Gel nails, new style...well kind of ;)

I don´t know how time went by but finally I found some time to show you some nails again. 

Somehow I never really liked the russian almond shaped nails. I thought they are much too long, too acuate and not natural looking. 

But the more I saw them the more I lstarted to like them. they look quite feminine and inteseting. But would I be able to do them on myself? 

Well, at least I wnated tot try the new style nails, which can be sculptured very thin and the nails will be pinched.   

I didn´t have the right equipment for it but somehow I found a qoutube video where it was done with a clothes-peg. ;) 

So I tried that too.. and here you can see the result:

To pinch the nail, you need to cure the fibreglass gel for around 15 seconds (depending on the gel) and then pinch it together.. but smooth and easy. Not too much pressure and make sure only to pinch the extended gel, not your own nail as that could damage your nail. 

Of course you can also do a square nail now but as I mentioned I wanted to try russian almonds, though that didn´t work out too well as the length wasn´t enough. But still they turned out ok for my taste.

Gel nails- Pink is always the right choice...

at least that´s what I think.

As usual I couldn´t decide for a colour and a design. More so as I ordered some new colour from
Touché International. They had a little dicsount and of course I had to take that oportunity.

First I thought that this light pink magic would be a bit too bright for spings... but then.. what the heck,... I love it, so I chose it for the current design.

The black stamping was a first for me.. I thought it would be a nice contrast to the bright pink.

Metallic look with foil on gel nails

Hey everybody,

here you can see another design with foil.
This was my first attempt on my friends nails and so far everything went quite good. Unfortunately after a week or so, the sealing gel went off.
As I mentioned in my previous post it´s very important to seal the nails properly with the gel. Seems like I didn´t do it well enough.
But here you can see the result when everything was still fine.

Step by step - foil design on gel nails

Hello my der ones,

are you ready for something new?
So was I after I´ve seen so many foil designs on gel nails. So I ordered some foils and tried it out myself.

You will need a colour gel with a very sticky surface after curing in UV light. That´s why black gel is working very well but there are also special foil glue available. But I prefer the gel itself and it works pretty good.

So here we go....

As usual you need to prepare your nails. Remove the old gel design with a file and also the invisible cuticle on the nails with a file or pro pusher. Gently push the cuticles with a manicure stick back and buffer the nail a little so that there is no grease or anything on it.  Apply primer or dehydrater. Whatever you prefer.

I´m using a bonding gel. Just a little bit of it which will be rubbed into the nail. Let it cure for 2 minutes. 

Next step was to build up the nail since I decided fot a fullcover design. I used fiberglassgel milky pink from Tailored nails. Cure again for 2 minutes in UV light. 

Remove the inhibition layer with cleaner and file into shape. Apply colour gel on the nails you want without foil. I decided for cherry metallic on thumb, index and little finger. 

If you're afraid that the gel will get into the side areas then cure immediately after applying.

Now prepare your foil already, cut it into the size you need.

Apply black gel and cure for 3 to 4 minutes. 

Immediately after taking the hand off the device put the foil on the nails, the shiny side up!

Depending on how much and where you put it, the foil will stick on the inhibition layer. 

Pull off the foil fitfully. If you just want small spots if foil then you need to das the foil onto the nail. 

As you can see, I almost put the foil on the whole nail. Last step is to seal (all) the nails with a finish gloss gel.  Make sure to seal it properly as the gel doesn't hold on the foil, so it needs to be on gel. That's why it's better to spare the edges of the nails. 

I used high shining gel from Tailored nails 

That's the finished look.  

The color of the foil goes well with the gel colour, unfortunately you can't see that properly because of flash.  

I really get into that foil design. You can create so many different looks with it. It's something I will use more often now for sure.

I still owe you the last nail-modellings I did and so I want to show them now to you. I ordered some new items like new colours from Touché International, which I already told you about and also new stamping plates from a company calles MoYou.

My current design I saw on facebook as there are really many good nail designers and I´m tempted to try their designs. I hope that it at least turns out a bit like their work.

New Year - new nails!

Hello my dear ones!

First of all I want to wish you a very happy and healthy New Year 2015!!

I tried something new with the almond shaped nails and I´m very happy with the result. Of course they are far from pefect but still, for a first they turned out pretty nice.

The new colour gel I got from nails.de after watching one on Lyninails youtube videos. It has a nice consistency with a good coverage for french design. As a full cover you will need 2 layers.
It´s a lovey colour though after curing it changed a bit. But still a nice shimmering colour gel for a low price. 

I must say I love the products of Tailored nails. The fibreglass gel is prefect even for nonprofessionals as me. It´s easy to apply and filing is not much of work either. 
The shining gel is good too but I still prefer the High gloss from Nail Expert as a finish. It has the best shining result in my opinion.

Autumn look - gel nails

Hello my dear ones,

I also got my nails done again and choosed a shimmery nougat shade. According to that I added a brown stamping design to it with a golden sparkle.
The colour is more on the darker side than seen on the picture below.

Babyboomer gel nails!

Hello my dear ones!

It´s high time for a new post, right?
The last weeks were really stressful so I had no time for anything actually. But there is always time for some nails. :)

Honey had to attend a wedding and she wanted something simple and elegant. So we decided that it was time for me to try the Babyboomer design. The result isn´t 100 percent what I wanted but still, for the first try we were both satisfied with it.

Gel Nails 2.0

Hello my dear ones,

I got some new gels from a company called "tailored nails" and of course I need to show them to you.
After I saw a youtube video from an austrian nail designer who was praising those gels I had to try them too.

I ordered some sculpture/ buildnig gels as well as two colour gels.

The colour gels are absolutely brillant. They have a super coverage so that you are able to just put a thin layer on the nails. Which is perfect when you work on the builder gel and not under it. 

They have a wonderful shine and little golden sparkles, really fantastic colours to work with. 

The builder gel is a fiberglass gel. It´s a first for me and I must say that it´s really a difference. It has a thick, stable constistency and the best thing is that it´s not getting hot in the device. Maybe a little warm but not burning hot.

As fiberglass gel is very strong, you can work more thin and it feels a bit different on the nail. I´m wearing it since 2 weeks now and am totally satisfied with it.

The builder gel was on a special offer with a milky builder pink and that one I used too. It has a little coverage like a camouflage/ make up gel and looks nice on the nails as you can see on my ringfinger.

Simple and elegant gel nails

Hello my dear one,

I still need to show you the last designs I made on Honey´s nails. Somehow I had no time even not on my holidays. ;)

Anyways.. here we go. Honey had a couple of family celebrations and taht´s why she wanted simple and elegant designs which will fit to her outfits.

First we choosed nude nails with a white stamping. Sorry for the bad photo quality, I forgot to take pictures and so Honey had to take some on her own.
But I think you can recognize the important things. :)

Unfortunately the white gel I have is not the best to work on the sculptured layer. I definitely need a new one, because this one from Jolifin is too liquish and also the smile line didn´t worked too good. I needed three layers of white until it was fully covering. That´s why the nails look a bit too bulging and I don´t like that at all.

Berry-flower Gel nails

Hello my dear ones,

again it was time for a new design. I´m not very decisive sometimes when it comes to colours and stamping designs. But since the day I bought this colour I wanted try it. I was hoping that it´s a bit more bright and shiny but it´s beautiful nevertheless.
Added some pink flower stamping to it and there´s the berry-flower look.

Plain and simple...

Nail repair!!

Hello my dear ones,

unfortunately the glimmer sealing got cracked on couple of my nails. :(
After some search on google, I found out that it is not uncommon with that glimmer sealing gel I used, because after curing the layer is to hard and cracks now and then.
I tried to take some pictures and maybe if you zoom in, you will be able to see it on the first picture.

So, I had to remove that layers and apply new ones, as well as some new colour as I had to file as much as needed.

On such repairs, it´s important to keep some more distance to the cuticle, because the original nail art is one week old. So the nails has already grown and we want them to look even.

So as I said, I removed the sealing layer and renew it and on top I coverd it with my normal sealing gel I usually use. This shall help to prevent new cracks on the nail.
Hopefully.

I´m not sure if I will use that glimmer again because of that side effect which is definitely a manufacturing fault.

Summer nails!!

Hello my dear ones!!

Germany is world champion!!! :) (Everyone who´s not interested in football, please bear with me...)

What a football month it has been! Woow.
4 Weeks the only thing which counted was the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. What an exciting time with nail biting moments.

I was cheering and rooting for my german team of course and in the end they defeted Argentina with a goal from Mario Goetze!
What a goal.. I will always remember it.
Finally after such a long gap we are the Champions of the world again. Fantastic!!

Due to that I lacked posting here but will fo it now again. Of course I needed to do my nails in between and here are my last two designs.

I started with a pastel design in mint green and salmon with some stamping and glitter:

I put some glimmer finish on it, just to let it sparkle a bit more. 

I just love the result!

Gel nails- This time: petrol!

Hello my dear ones,

it´s been a while again but please bear with me.
Sometimes I just don´know how time is running. Plus, now the FIFA World cup has begun and I´m in football fever. You too?

Anyways, back to nails again. I haven´t worn turquoise for a while now and still I´m not full in mood for it again. But there is this wonderful petrol colour I decided for. After the red last time, it´s a nice contrast.

Show your nails

Hello my dear ones!!

It´s time for some new designs, right?
Today I´m able to show you three new designs, because besides Honey I have a new model to work on. :)
My apprentice also loves nails and so it was just meant to be.


So let´s start with her nails. She wanted a dark and elegant colour and we decided for purple planet from Jolifin. I´m still not too satisfied with this colour because it looks totally different in the cup than after curing.
But the main thing is that the person who´s wearing it is satisfied and she is indeed, though you could think that it´s christmas time again. ;)

Turquoise fullcover on thumb, index and small finger, a microglitter in silver on the middle finger and fullcover in dark grey with a white stamping on the ring finger.
We are both really happy with the result which you can see here now:

Last but not least also my nails needed a new design and after fullcover I was in mood for a french design. I choosed a new ordered colour called "Daiquiri metallic".
Unfortunately I had no matching glitter and so opted for some colour blocking and took pink. Pink can never be wrong, right?

Guess you already realised that I love stamping. It´s the easiest and cleanest way to add some nice pattern on the design. I´m not much into painting, most of all when you´re doing your own nails I would struggle too much with my left hand. So that´s why I prefer stamping. 
You can always put the pattern in a different way just to add some variations like on these nails.
