Poori - Fried indian bread

Hello all my dear ones,

I neglected cooking a bit and am sorry for that. It was pure lack of time.
But finally I wanted to try something out this weekend and opted for poori, the fried indian bread. I think it´s famous served with poatoes but I like them with every indian curry and had it with my quick chicken curry. ;)

Well, I still need a lot of pratice but the taste is already really good. As far as I can rate.

The recipe is very simple, all you need is flour, salt and water.
But an indian friend told me to add some semolina to make them even more crispy.

So let´s go...

Ingredients für 6 to 8 pieces:

1 cup of flour (Atta)
1/2 tsp salt
lukewarm water
1-2 Tbsp semolina
Oil to fry

Method:

Put the flour, semolina and salt in a bowl and slowly add water.
Mix all together to get a soft dough. Add water little by little and make sure the dough becomes not too sticky neither too dry. Take your time, you should knead at least 10 to 15 minutes. You can also add 1 Tbsp of oil to the dough.

Now there are different opinions about allowing the dough to rest or not. I personally let it rest for 20 to 30 minutes on a warm place.
But you can proceed right away when you prefer.

So make small balls out of the dough, maybe golf ball size and then roll them out into small circles (still struggling with that ;) ) with thin to medium thickness. Don´t let them get too thin, they will only become hard/ crispy while frying.

Now I put them for 10 minutes into the fridge, that helps to avoid them soaking too much of oil and they become quite crsipy-soft.

Meanwhile you heat up the oil and then fry them one after the other. If they don´t come up immediatley, the oil isn´t hot enough.

While the poori is coming up to the surface make sure that you ladle some oil on the top always, that will help to make them puff up.
Turn them around so that it evenly goldenbrown/ reddish.

Take them out and place them on a paper towel to drain oil.

And then serve hot with your dish. :)

Maybe you give it a try?

Back to pink!

Hello my dear ones,

can you believe it? It´s march already!
I have no clue where the last two months have gone but one thing is fore sure.. It was time for new nails.

After all the dark colours I needed something bright as spring is almost there. Well, this colour is calling for summer actually but I couldn´t resist.

Though I didn´t want to use glitter this time, I had to because after curing there were some bubbles on two of my nails. So I had to cover them with some glitter.
I applied the colour gel really thin but it seems not thin enough on those two nails.
But anyways I think the result is still ok.

New gel, new art..

Hello my dear ones,

since I´m a bit of some colour gels from Jolifin, I searched the net for options.
I´m always reading comments and recommendations of professionals but unfortunaltey one can´t order in every store without a trade license.

But luckily it´s possible at Golden Nails and so I tried my luck. I read many good opinions about it and these are the 4 colours I chose: Nougat, Wicked & Mauve Mystic.

Delivery was super quick and I couldn´t wait to try the colours. Nothing special design wise.. but I had to know how they are to handle.

I´m very satisfied with them, good coverage so that it´s possible to work in thin layers.
Of course I had to do my own nails then too because I immediately fell in love with the colour Mauve Mystic.

This time I took two pictures since the colour in the one with flash looks a bit different than in real.

This one is without flash:

Used products:

New year, new nails

Hello all you lovely people!

I´m wishing you a very happy and prosperous new year, though it´s a bit late but anyways..
Hope you all celebrated with family and friends to start the new year surronded by your most important people.

Christmas is long gone with all the cheer and good food. :) Now it´s back to business and so I was in need for new nails.
Remember, I bought a couple of new colours last year and so I tried another one, called "Rouge Noir". Well, I´m a bit disappointed cause the gel was very hard to handle. It´s so liquid that it always run to the cuticle and I had to clean a lot.
Well, for pros it might not be a problem but I´m not a pro.
Anyways, the result is ok and the colour itself looks quite nice, what do you think?

Merry Christmas!!

It´s almost there.
Christmas is around the corner. Are you having a stressful time? Buying the last gifts etc.?
I take it easy as it should be a stress free time.
Well, maybe I also get a bit hectic in the last days then.. let´s see. ;)

At least I did my nails and created a christmas design, which wasn´t too easy to choose this time. I couldn´t decide between white with green and red flitter. But that looked more like the italian flag than Christmas. ;)

Well at the end it was red glitter then, which troubled me a bit since I tried a new method. But nevertheless.. that´s how they look now:

Products:
-Primer Soft -Nail Expert
-Bonding gel - Nail Expert
-Multiglitter - Jet Set
-Builder Gel - Nail Epert
-Cleaner- Nail Expert
-Stamping polish white- Nail Expert
-Stamping pattern- Konad
-High Gloss Finish Gel -Nail Expert

I think the Christmas theme can be recognized. ;)

So far I used the builder and finish gels of Jolifin but I read in many forums that the gels from Nail Expert have a better quality in that price section. So I ordered them and there is nothing to complain.
The High Gloss is super shiny and the builder gel is good to work with.
Now I just have to see if it will approve during the next weeks.

In this spirit I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
And have a happy new year 2014!!

Hope you will visit this blog next year too. :)
